About me

Hello! My name is Zofia Kumas. I am the woman – teacher, owner, administrator – behind Sage Leaf Yoga.

I launched this business in 2017 and am delighted to continue offering yoga classes and events to my community in Chelsea, QC and beyond.

Yoga and life are intertwined; this I have come to realize through my dance with yoga over the years.

I turned to yoga as a new mother to find my balance in a time of tremendous change. Yoga helped me to take better care of myself.

Over the years, yoga has offered me many different tools – for body, mind and spirit – to navigate the ups and downs of life. It has shifted with me, showing its different faces, as I moved forward on this journey of life.

This is something I have brought me with as a yoga teacher – the idea that our yoga practice is a form of self-care, as well as a training ground for our daily life.

Yoga shows us how to live life more peacefully, more joyfully. Yoga and life go hand in hand.

This is why I have so enjoyed bringing yoga to you in your homes, through online classes. And this is why I so enjoy offering yoga events in my home. Because yoga belongs in the home, as a part of our daily lives.

Of course there are benefits to attending yoga classes in studios, community centres and gyms. But do not think that you need to go somewhere to do yoga, or that you leave your yoga there at the end of your practice. Rather, invite yoga into your home. Weave it into your life, into your relationships.

My goal as a yoga teacher is to share all the gifts that yoga has to offer – a healthy body, a peaceful mind, a happy and free spirit – and to show that yoga and its gifts are available and accessible to one and all.

Yoga will meet you right where you are, right now, right here.

Yoga will welcome you just as you are – you are not too stiff or too old or too anything to practise yoga.

There is nothing you need to change about yourself.

There is no fancy equipment or clothing you need to purchase.

Yoga does not judge or expect or demand. It accepts and simply asks that you practice regularly, patiently, in a smart and safe way. And that’s where I come in – I’m here to help you with that part.

My role is to help you dedicate some time to yourself and your self-care, and to share the practices of yoga in a way that meets you where you’re at in your life.
