Class descriptions

Chair Yoga – Chair Yoga is a perfect way to start or continue your yoga practice without having to get down to the floor (yay for tender wrists, hips and knees). This class offers breathing exercises and movements to stretch, strengthen, balance and relax the whole body, from head to toe. All postures are done either sitting in a chair, or standing by a chair.

Yin Yoga – A slow, deep stretch to release tension, to lengthen tight muscles and connective tissues (e.g. hamstrings, hips, shoulders, neck), and to maintain suppleness in the spine. In order to balance the long-held Yin Yoga postures, we incorporate some active movements to build strength and stability.

Hatha and Yin Practice – A moderately-paced practice that includes standing and balancing postures, as well as seated, lying-down and inverted postures. We focus equally on developing strength and flexibility, stability and ease. A similar practice each week with set sequences, as well as different postures to address different parts of the body – e.g. feet, hips, shoulders, etc.

Traditional Hatha Yoga – Based on the Sivananda approach, this class opens with breathing exercises and sun salutations, then continues with the practice of twelve basic yoga postures and their variations. The only 75-minute class on our schedule, this well-rounded practice will leave you feeling both re-energized and relaxed.

Morning Meditation – The practice of meditation will help you

  • to calm and focus your mind
  • to begin each day feeling clearer and happier
  • and to feel increasingly connected to your Higher Self / Higher Power.

Meditation is a simple and powerful way to explore your inner world. With practice, it leads us to the serenity, clarity and contentment that lie within. This is also where we find our freedom to choose our thoughts, and therefore to create and recreate our lives.

Note: All class times are in Eastern Time.
